Early Head Start
Head Start and Early Head Start programs provide comprehensive services to support social and emotional development of children from birth to 5, a dual language program.
Today, Guadalupe Head Start staff and parents are themselves at the center of important pioneering work, supporting universal early education for all children. Guadalupe Head Start early education programs will surely contribute to improved academic performance when these children enter elementary education.
Early Head Start serves pregnant women, infants, and toddlers. Early Head Start programs are available to the family until the child turns 3 years old and is ready to transition into Head Start or another pre-K program. Early Head Start helps families care for their infants and toddlers through early, continues, intensive, and comprehensive services.
Comprehensive services are delivered in a learning environment that is individualized to support children's growth in the five essential domains.
Head Start comprehensive services include:
- Screenings and follow-up for health, development, and behavior
- Health and safety
- Social and emotional health
- Family goal-setting
- Social services
- Transition services
- Services for children with disabilities
Guadalupe Head Start and Early Head Start program truly embraces and encourages bilingualism amongst their children. 90% of the education staff is fluent in English and Spanish.
